The Secret Power of Giving | Amit Ray Teachings
Saint Amit Ray taught me the power of giving. Once he said “In one equation you can solve all the puzzles of life. It is the equation of giving.” Modern, scientific research provides increasing evidence to support the notion that giving one’s time, talents and treasures is a powerful pathway to finding purpose, transcending difficulties, and finding fulfillment and meaning in life. Here, I discussed the secret power of giving. Ray said “By giving positive things, thoughts, and vibrations to others, you get the power which helps you to go into the Beyond. Charity will take you to the right direction, slowly and politely, But Charity needs proper mindset.”

Charitable giving has a long history stretching back to Roman, Greek and Egypt civilizations and has been widely practiced in most religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam and Jainism. Positive giving is strongly associated with personality traits and qualities such as altruism, empathy and generosity.Helping a needy or under-privileged person enhances ones self-image.
Judaism and Christianity recommended of giving 10% of your income to charity. Islam has a similar practice (zakat) in which those who are able, should give between 2.5 and 20% to the poor and needy.
“For it is in giving that we receive.” ~Saint Francis of Assisi
“The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.” ~Leo Tolstoy
“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” ~Winston Churchill
“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” – Kahlil Gibran
“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” ~Chinese proverb
The reason why some people hesitate to give is because they act out of a consciousness of scarcity. They feel that they do not have it in them to give, that they have nothing of value to share with the rest of the world and that they have to be a certain type of person to give or that there is not enough to go around.
But that is a wrong view. Charles Darwin long ago surmised, sympathy is our strongest instinct. Giving is the main driving force for human survival.
Final Thoughts
By giving out what you have without expecting anything in return, you start living a meaningful life. You get to realize your true of life and world full of challenges. If you find meaning in the lives of those in need and do something about it, you will also find meaning in your own life. You can see the light of the soul.
Amit Ray said, “Eternal God is in everyone and everything, by giving, you can eliminate the clutters and blockages of your mind and purify your consciousnesses.”
By giving you will find yourself in better health and peace and you achieve more happiness. That is the magic and mystery of selfless giving.
