Meditation in the Beauty of Nature | Teachings of Sri Amit Ray

Beauty is the moment when time vanishes and eternity arises. -- Amit Ray

Sri Amit Ray’s teachings on the beauty of nature made me sensitive towards life and beauty. Nature is one of the key forces that brought me back to life. Now, I love nature. My view points about life has changed. I was suffering on anxiety, and depressions – but nature has helped me a lot to come out of the anxiety loop. I feel awe and joy in nature again. He repeatedly, reminds me the power of nature in my meditation classes. Now, I realize, what I was missing.  The minute intricate designs on the butterfly wings mesmerize me. Sometimes, I feel that all the planets and the earth is alive. Earth can listen and hear my breath. The mountain winds that blows around me, often speaks. The horizon of my life has been extended a lot.  The colorful flowers of the fields, amaze me. When the sun’s rays reach the seeds on the ground they sprout – may be there is an invisible flow of oxytocin between the earth and the seed..

“Nature brings us closer to our Self and we get easily connected with the loving presence of the Supreme. In the majesty of nature, our surrender comes automatically and we get relief. The present moment experience in nature surges joy within us.” — Amit Ray

We do not feel any urgency or deadline in nature. We do not measure “clock time,” in hours, minutes and seconds. I learnt to rely on the natural rhythms of my body and the Earth. That removed a lot of stress from my life. I found harmony and balance in the beauty of nature. In nature our chakra get balanced.

I get sweet relief from tensions of daily life. Our modern life style teaches us that we never have enough. We drive fast to make more money, buy more things, and eat more delicious food. Nature teaches us incredible abundance and  diversity in all her glory.

Modern scientific experiments reveals the processes taking place in the human brain while they are absorbed in the beauty of nature. The human brain contains more than one hundred billion neurons, and each neuron has in average 7000 synaptic connections. That amounts to the staggering fact that each one of us has roughly 500 trillion synapses. The emotions people feel in the presence of beautiful nature are likely mediated by the brain’s reward circuitry. The core neural circuit involved in appreciating the beauty of nature is the activation of the medial orbitofrontal cortex (mOFC), the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC),  and the left anterior insula. Oxytocin, endorphins, dopamine and serotonin are the key hormones associated with the beauty of nature.

“Life is incomplete without understanding the language of the beauty of the flowers, rocks, fine mountain lines, autumn leaves, clouds, stars and galaxies in the deep sky, music of the early birds, sunshine into the trees, and movements of the butterflies. The extravaganza of nature ignites the light that you have inside.” — Amit Ray

In sum, my overall experience in the beauty of nature is extraordinary. Nature can provide unlimited fresh air, and it is one of the significant benefits that I enjoy in nature. Nature gives me a new perspective of how we should look at life and visualize myself as a part of the cosmic play. Nature, provides me an excellent feeling of satisfaction.
